    RARE  Green Chevron Trade Bead
    This bead measures approximately 19x35mm.
    The Chevron Trade bead or Rosetta Bead was a huge success for the Italian's. This bead usually has 6 layers of glass. Chevrons date back to the 1400's. It is conceivable that Christopher Columbus could have had Chevrons on his ships manifest.  The process for making Chevrons is complex. The various layers of glass on a iron rod were inserted into a Star tapered mold after each layer was added. There was a air bubble blown in. The gather of glass was then stretched after attaching a second iron rod and pulled up to 50 yards. The long sticks of bead material were then cut and finished.
    Note: Most old beads have Character; meaning minor imperfections. Major imperfections will be noted.
